Information We Collect

All financial data you enter (accounts, transactions) and your app preferences are stored on your device by default. Penny Pro subscribers who enable iCloud Sync have their data also stored in their private iCloud account, managed entirely by Apple.

Penny does not collect personal identity information, device identifiers, location data, analytics, biometrics, or cookies.

How Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework (backed by SQLite) and UserDefaults for preferences.

Penny Pro subscribers can optionally enable iCloud Sync, which stores data in the user's private iCloud (CloudKit) container. Apple manages the iCloud infrastructure — for details, refer to Apple's Privacy Policy. Without Penny Pro or with sync disabled, data stays on-device only.

Penny does not operate its own servers or external databases. Your data is protected by iOS app sandboxing and your device's built-in encryption capabilities.

How Your Data Is Used

Your data is used solely to provide the App's core functionality:

  • Displaying your accounts, transactions, and balances
  • Organizing transactions by category
  • Customizing your experience based on your preferences

Your data is never used for advertising, user profiling, or analytics of any kind.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not share, sell, rent, or transmit your data to any third party.

Penny contains zero third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising networks, or crash reporting tools. Penny uses Apple services only — iCloud for optional sync (Penny Pro) and the App Store for subscription management.

Apple processes subscription payments; Penny never accesses your payment details. For details on how Apple handles your data, refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data only leaves your device if you explicitly initiate an export or enable iCloud Sync.

Data Export

Penny allows you to export your financial data in JSON or CSV format through Settings.

The export is processed entirely on your device and presented via the standard iOS share sheet. You choose where to save or share the exported file.

Exported files are handled by the destination you choose (e.g., Files, email, third-party apps). Their privacy practices apply.

We have no access to your exported files.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your financial data at any time through Settings > Delete All Data. This action is immediate and irreversible.

App preferences (theme, language, currency) persist after data deletion. To reset preferences, uninstall the App.

Uninstalling Penny from your device removes all local data completely. If iCloud Sync was enabled, iCloud data may persist after uninstalling. You can delete iCloud data via iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.

Data Security

Your data is protected by multiple layers of security:

  • App sandbox isolation — iOS prevents other apps from accessing Penny's data
  • Encryption at rest — iOS Data Protection encrypts your data using your device passcode
  • iCloud encryption — when Sync is enabled, data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple
  • No credentials stored — Penny does not store passwords, tokens, or authentication credentials

Children's Privacy

Penny is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the European Union).

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Penny does not operate its own servers or collect any personal data, so no children's information is gathered by us regardless of age.

Your Rights

Penny is available in the EU, Turkey, and the USA. Without iCloud Sync, all data stays on-device with no cross-border transfers. With iCloud Sync enabled, Apple may process data in accordance with their privacy policy and applicable data protection agreements. We do not sell your personal information or engage in behavioral advertising.

Regardless of your location, you can exercise your data rights directly within the App:

  • Access — view your data directly in the App
  • Rectify — edit any entry at any time
  • Erase — delete all data via Settings
  • Portability — export your data in JSON or CSV format

This applies to rights under the GDPR (EU), KVKK (Turkey), and CCPA (California, USA). Our legal basis for local data processing is legitimate interest and your consent.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.

Your continued use of Penny after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
